The TerraVentoux Soils
TerraVentoux owns different types of soils :
Alluvium :
A mixture of soil and organic debris deposited by the water, giving light and fertile soil. Here grow vines producing aromatic, fruity wines: Les Roches Blanches.
Miocenic Limestone :
At the foot of the Mont Ventoux, the vine sends its roots down through fissures in this iron and oligo-element rich ground. Thus it finds the water allowing the grapes to ripen slowly. The Terres de Truffes and La Cavée come from this area.
Ochres :
A few million years ago, Provence was under the sea. The limestone of the sea bed was gradually covered in grey clay. Then, the sea retreated and tropical rains fell on the region, transforming green sands into ochre sands. Here we now produce light and fruity wines: TerraVentoux.
